Brahmatal Trek is considered as the ‘all in one package’ among a long list of trekking destinations across the country. Stretching to an expanse of 24 Km, the Brahmatal trek exposes you to some of the most magnificent Himalayan peaks such as Mt Chaukhamba, Mt Neelkanth, and Mt Hathi Ghoda among others.
The diversified beauty of this trek, from glorious mountains to snow-laden trails, high-altitude serene lakes, and lush green forests, makes Brahmatal quite mesmerizing.
If you are one of those people who love to pose for the gram, then you’d find this place even more compelling. The abundance of snow makes all the moments that you spend here Insta-worthy and you’d feel a strong urge to capture all of them.
For all snow fanatics who love to see sun rays illuminating the ivory surface, winters are definitely the best time to do the Brahmatal Trek, more specifically the months of October, November, December, and January.
The 5 Day 4-night trek starts from Lohajung, which is about 300 km away from Dehradun. After an overnight stay followed by dinner at Lohajung, we will prepare for our journey ahead the next morning.
In this Brahmatal trek package, we make sure that the balance between fun and adventure is always maintained and hence our trek leader gives a briefing session at the start of every day. After which, we will begin our ascent towards the peak and will be rewarded by the scenic views of Kail Valley. By the time dusk starts to fall, we’d have reached our last stop for the day which is nestled calmly among the oak trees. We will set up camp at Bekaltal Lake and retire to bed for the night.
The next morning, we will proceed towards Brahmatal Lake which will take us almost 5 hours after which we will settle down to take a breather and set up camp at the Brahamtal Lake where we will have dinner while the valleys of Nainital and Almora peek at us from the backdrop.
Finally, the day when we trek towards the Brahmatal summit and get to enjoy the most stunning view of the Himalayan peaks of the Garhwal region like Mt.Trishul and Mt Nanda Ghunti.
We will set up camp at the summit and spend a night under the starry skies, surrounded by mountains before finally descending to Daldum, concluding our trek with dinner and overnight stay at Daldum. The next day after our morning tea, we will drive towards Rishikesh and part ways with some fond memories and a smile on our faces.
Solo travelers, first-timers, as well as experienced trekkers, prefer and love Brahmatal.

- Day 01: Drive from Rishikesh to Lohajung.
- Day 02: Lohajung to Bekaltal.
- Day 03: Bekaltal to Brahmatal.
- Day 04: Brahmatal summit; Descent to Daldum.
- Day 05: Daldum to Rishikesh.
Tour Plan
- Drive to Lohajung which takes about 9-10 hours from Rishikesh / Kathgodam with stunning views of high altitude peaks like Trishul, Maiktoli, Nanda Devi, Ghori Parvat, Nanda Khat, Hathi Parvat, and Ghori Parvat.
- Take a small halt at “Teen Dhara” for refreshments and capture the moment as the views here are seriously unforgettable.
- Lohajung serves as the beginning point and the base camp for the Brahmatal trek.
- Stay in guest house and have dinner with the whole group.
The Pickup point will be Rishikesh ISBT/Railway Station.
- The first day of the trek starts from Lohajung to Bekaltal which takes about 4-5 hours.
- Get up early in the morning, have breakfast and get ready to begin.
- Just beside Lohajung follow the ascending human-made stone trek.
- Along the way, you would encounter some startling views of the Nanda Ghunti
Peak. - The walk is mostly inside the jungle of the Conifer, Cedar, Oak and Fir.
- Reach campsite and have meal.
- Today is the day to trek to Brahmatal Lake where Lord Brahma meditated many years ago.
- It takes about 5-6 hours to reach Brahmatal from Bekaltal Campsite.
- The trail starts steeply into the Oak and Rhododendron forest which leads to the meadow of Telandi top.
- In the winter, you will see the meadow of Telandi turns into a vast snowfield and crossing the area, a gala of thrill.
- Reach campsite have meal with your whole group.
Note: We can get a glimpse of the beautiful valleys of Nainital and Almora from
here.
- Today is the most visually mesmerizing day of the entire Brahmatal trek.
- Get up early by 05:00 AM, have breakfast and get ready to climb to the top of Brahmatal.
- The trek to the top of Brahmatal requires around 2½ hours of steep climbing. Along the way, it would be all ascents. We would pass through some treacherous trails at Chota Jhandidar and Bada Jhandidar.
- After this we would be leaving this pristine lap of Mother Nature. After having
breakfast, start walking to Lohajung from Brahmatal followed by some steep
descending trail. - It takes 4-5 hours to trek down to Daldum through thick oak and rhododendron forests once again.
- You will reach Daldum in the evening and have your delicious meal in campsite.
- Depart from Daldum to Rishikesh / Kathgodam Bus Station early in the morning, preferably before 06:30 AM since the journey takes 8-9 hours.
- Expected to reach Rishikesh / Kathgodam by 06:00 PM.

Things to Carry
- Carry Warm T-Shirts.
- Warm light microfleece pullovers, or Thick Fleece.
- Two Trekking Pants that are water-resistant/repellent and having inside lining for extra warmth.
- Keep a good quality Windproof/water-resistant outer shell (jacket) with a proper hood.
- Thermal inner wear (upper and lower).
- Take a Woolen cap, scarf, few pairs of warm fleece gloves.
- Thick woolen socks and regular socks (4-5 pairs).
- Comfortable waterproof Trekking/Hiking shoes that come with a thick sole and high ankles, and a pair of sneakers or sports shoes.
- Raincoat / Poncho, Insulated water bottle.
- A good pair of sunglasses with UV protection with the ability to cut the glare is crucial when traversing through the snow.
- Sturdy walking stick / Trekking pole.
- Love for yourself and for every living, and non-living thing.
